Looking forward to attending three
days at York this week. One of the horses I put up at the start of the season
and an eye-catcher over the winter run in the Musidora. I don’t see any value
in the price of either horse now, as Etyjah
has been well backed this morning. Give And Take is a filly I really like;
she ran a solid race on her seasonal reappearance behind Crystal Hope, carrying
a penalty. William Haggas doesn’t think she wants the ground too fast and I
think a mile and a half will be her optimum trip. Ejtyah was 11/1 for this at the start of the week and you’ll be
lucky to get half that price this morning. I thought she won with quite a bit in
hand on her only start to date and the galloping track at York looks sure to
suit as it did for her sire. My only concern would be that she was pulled out
of the Lingfield Oaks trial on account of the quick going, which she will
encounter today. She was entered at Newbury on Saturday but the ground there
won’t be much slower so they will be running out of options. She is a racehorse
after all, so run her!
Ejtyah (David Simcock)
Sire – Frankel.
Dam – Darysina.
Ran only once
as a two-year-old, in a small novice event at Chelmsford. Although the official winning margin was just
half a length, the front two pulled four lengths clear of the other horses. The
form of those other horses in behind does not look strong, however. She settled
at the back of the field, before making a sustained effort in the straight.
Jamie Spencer gave her just one stroke with the whip to which she responded and
won a shade cosily. David Simcock said after the race she is a horse with a
future that will eventually make a good stayer.
